Our neighbours send their daughter to a private school, Oxford High School. I know it well because my entire secondary education was spent at Cherwell School, which was right next door. Sometimes the girls from Cherwell would climb through the hole in the fence to play football with the girls at Oxford High.

Anyway, Oxford High are having a school play and the daughter proudly announced that she’d be taking part. That’s fair enough, the school play is an important event, only it’s not actually free to attend, and tickets are £7.

Parents really want to go see their children on stage so naturally they’ll pay whatever the school is charging. That’s in addition too the school fees of £7,755 per year they’re already paying.
So the school charges first for the drama lessons, and then again for the performance.

They might as well go to the cinema, it costs less. 🤷
